“This past fall I went on the Southern Route tour offered by Travel Meets Culture and had my eyes opened to so many parts of German history and culture, from the stone age to present day. Lee and Christiana are fabulous guides. Christiana’s German and music backgrounds and Lee’s art and art history backgrounds make them a perfect combination for leading travelers on this culture-rich tour. They are a wealth of knowledge at every stop along the way and brought us to incredible places I would have never known to visit. They are also a lot of fun to travel with! I was stunned by the dramatic natural beauty of the Bavarian Alps, lakes, and rivers in the area. The architecture of the castles, churches, homes, and other buildings we visited was also very striking. While I loved visiting some of the main tourist attractions of the region, such as Neuschwanstein Castle and Salzburg, I was fascinated by our visits to Mainau Island, The Fuggerei in Augsburg, and other sites I had never heard about before. Lee and Christiana provided the perfect amount of context and information for each place we visited and were great at answering any questions we had. We ate in authentic restaurants not crowded with other tourists and stayed in several smaller towns that were having street festivals and open-air markets while we were there, which allowed us to really see what it’s like to live in Southern Germany.
